We have experience in all types of wooden boat construction, including plank-on-frame, lapstrake, cold-molding and others. Being well-versed in all types of marine carpentry and joinery, we also perform interior cabinetry and wooden trim work on fiberglass boats. We do repairs, routine maintenance to full restorations. We’re ready, whether you need a few coats of varnish, a total refit, or a new build.
Services
Restoration
From a keel-up restoration of an entire hull, a backbone replacement, or other major structural work, we’re able to accomodate long-term projects and intensive rehabs. While most restorations aren’t the “replace everything but the silverware” type, we’ll develop long- and short-term plans that meets your expectations.
Repairs
Repairs aren’t always expected but occasionally are required. Whether it’s damage from an accident, a storage issue or simple over-abuse, we can repair damage and replace hardware for you in a smooth and timely manner. We’ve worked with surveyors and insurance companies, and hopefully take some of the headaches out of unexpected repairs.
Seasonal Maintenance
Spring paint and varnish jobs, are a vital part of our seasonal work. We can also develop a season-to-season plan with you that starts with offseason repairs or maintenance, assist with launching and rigging, and follow up with help in decommissioning and developing plans for the next off-season.
New Builds
Whether it’s lapstrake tender for your sloop or a Quahog skiff, we can build a boat to fit your needs or desires. We’ve worked with historical plans and drawings, and have knowledge of many different types of work boats and pleasure craft. If you’d like anything from a vintage class day-sailor or a mahogany racing boat, we’re happy to help.
Our location in Portsmouth, Rhode Island allows us to serve the South Shore of Massachusetts to Narragansett Bay and Jamestown in Rhode Island. Our well-equipped space allows us to work efficiently while retaining the highest level of craftsmanship. We can handle boats up to 40+ feet in length, and multiple projects at once. Additionally, we can provide on-site and on-the-water shipwright services at your location. We have decades of experience as professional shipwrights and are transparent with our scheduling and budgets. Every customer is kept up-to-date with regular progress reports.
