Original Herreshoff 12 1/2 available for restoration

This is an original Herreshoff 12 1/2, or Buzzards Bay Boys Boat. Those that know these little yachts are aware of their reputation as one of the most comfortable, stable, and timeless designs ever produced. A little over 350 of these boats were originally built by the Herreshoff Manufacturing Company in Bristol, Rhode Island, and there are around 250 of these originals still in existence.

Hull #1398, built for the 1937 season, was built with mahogany coamings, sheer strakes and transom, consistent with those built at the time. She is Marconi-rigged, and her spars are included. Our boat is complete, (including her builder’s plate) but will require a substantial rebuild. Once rebuilt, she will take her place among the rest of the original boats that have been coveted, passed down through generations, and most importantly, sailed often and enthusiastically.
